What is EPF (employees' provident fund)?

EPF is a retirement savings scheme where you and your employer each contribute a part of your basic salary every month into your provident fund account.

Your own contribution is deducted from your salary, so it lowers your In-hand salary. The employer's contribution is usually inside your CTC (cost to company).

The balance earns interest and can be withdrawn on retirement or in specific situations. Estimate it with the EPF calculator.
