Worked example

An example, step by step

You enter

A 61-word post starting "I got rejected from 12 jobs in 3 months. Then I changed one thing on my resume." with the fold left at 210.

The tool shows

The counter shows 312 characters, 61 words, 2688 left of 3000 and "102 hidden" past the fold, so the last part only shows after a reader clicks more.

FAQ

Questions about the LinkedIn Post Character Counter

How many characters can a LinkedIn post have?

This tool counts against a 3000 character limit and turns the counter red if you go over it.

Where does LinkedIn cut off a post with see more?

The tool uses 210 characters as the default fold and lets you edit that number, since the cut point shifts over time.

Does the counter count emoji and special characters correctly?

Yes, it counts each visible symbol once, so an emoji or a styled letter counts as one character.

Is the LinkedIn Post Character Counter free and private?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs entirely in your browser, so what you type is not uploaded. You only sign in if you want to email a result to yourself or save it to your CareerByteCode profile.
