How to use the Salary Negotiation Script

  1. Enter the offered CTC, your current CTC and your target.
  2. Add a competing offer if you have one.
  3. Add the role, the company and what you bring.

Questions about the Salary Negotiation Script

How much should I counter an offer by?

Ask for your researched target, usually 10 to 20 percent above the offer. The tool takes the higher of your target and 10 percent above the offer.

What if they cannot raise the base salary?

Ask for a joining bonus, a salary review after 6 months, a higher variable part or an earlier joining date.

Can negotiating cost me the offer?

Rarely, when you are polite and specific. Ask once, give one number and show you want to join.
