FAQ

Questions about the Text Diff Checker

Does the diff detect lines that were only moved?

No. It compares which lines exist in each version, so a line that moved to a different position but is otherwise unchanged is not reported.

Is the comparison case and whitespace sensitive?

Yes. Lines must match exactly, so a change in case or a trailing space shows up as one removed and one added line.

Can I diff two .env or config files?

Yes. Paste each file into its box; any key whose line changed appears as a removed old line and an added new line.

Is the Text Diff Checker free and private?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs entirely in your browser, so what you type is not uploaded. You only sign in if you want to email a result to yourself or save it to your CareerByteCode profile.
